"In love serve
one another is the motto of our movement and our Boys Home stand
as a living example of love." |

A home for the waifs and strays picked up from the streets was started in the outhouse of 'Swanly
Bungalow' in 1942. They were provided with accomodation,
food and work. It was later shifted to Mullassery Canal Road
and functioned under the name, "Balamandir" with 8
children. The strength increased to 12 and it functioned till
1947 when it was closed because of financial strain;
Later, in 1961 it was re-started as "Boys Home" in
a rented building at Palarivattom with 12 boys. It was later
shifted to YMCA's own permises at Trikkakara with the initiative of Justice T.K Joseph president of the YMCA. The building was
constructed and donated by Mr. C.U. Chacko. OXFAM of
UK donated Rs. 14,000/- in support of this Home. The Bread for
world organization in west Germany donated Rs. 65000/- and
some German friends became foster parents of some children.
